BSc student Marie Kaune from the University of Westminster undertook research with approximately 100 pupils from Van Gogh Primary School in the Myatt Field's area of Lambeth, during spring and summer 2022. The insights from this research help us to understand the impact that this 'street experiment' has on primary school-aged children, whose voices are often overlooked and not considered in decision-making processes. Marie's project was awarded the JC Decaux grant for best Research Report. Some of the insights from her research are summarised in this blog post on the EX-TRA website: https://www.ex-tra-project.eu/post/researching-school-streets-with-children.

Dear research participants,
Thank you very much for taking part in the EX-TRA project! We value your contribution to our understanding of residents' and other street users' perspectives on the Van Gogh Primary School Street and the quality of street space in Myatt's Field, Oval and Stockwell. In addition to the surveys on the Commonplace website, we held a workshop with community members on 13 June 2022, focused on discussing the School Street and its future.
This part of the research project has now finished and the surveys will be closed for comment on 28 April 2023. The Commonplace website will however remain available for citizens to visit for another two years, including the other respondents’ answers to the surveys.
The University of Westminster have analysed your survey responses. Please check out the EX-TRA website, where a summary of the research findings will be published before the end of the project in March 2024: https://www.ex-tra-project.eu/blog.
For any questions, you can write to us via the Contact Form at the bottom of our website https://www.ex-tra-project.eu/, or contact us via Twitter @EX_TRA__Projector Facebook.
Best wishes,
The EX-TRA project team

Hello! We're happy to let you know that the EX-TRA project at the University of Westminster has now kicked off a new phase in its research!
Over the last month, our team has been chatting to parents and teachers at the School Street outside Van Gogh Primary School in Myatt's Field. You may have seen our EX-TRA leaflets around.
We worked with Van Gogh Primary teachers on an in-class exercise, where over 100 children were asked what they thought of the School Street and crafted lovely drawings of what the space looks like from their point of view!
We're now inviting a cross-section of local community members to a workshop meeting on Van Gogh Primary School Street and the Future of Street Space in Myatt's Field on 13 June 2022, 4-7pm at the Myatt's Field Centre.
Take part to improve your neighbourhood and receive a £20 voucher!
Interested in attending the workshop? Please let us know via this page: https://extralambeth.commonplace.is/proposals/invitation-workshop/
We welcome all members of the public with a connection to Myatt's Field or surrounding areas – whether your child attends Van Gogh Primary or you live or work locally.

Enrica Papa, a member of the EX-TRA team at the University of Westminster, has contributed to the Centre for London’s blog on ‘reimagining London’s transport system’. The article reflects on how London is transitioning towards a ‘post-car city’ that prioritises pedestrians, and the role of street experiments in this process. You can read it on the EX-TRA website: https://www.ex-tra-project.eu/post/progressing-pedestrianisation-in-london.

The EX-TRA team in London, including researchers at the University of Westminster and partners at Transport for London, are excited to have chosen the initial street experiments that will be studied within the project. In a new post on the EX-TRA website, we are happy to share some insights into two experiments with a mobility hub and a “school street”, which we will be studying, in collaboration with Redbridge and Lambeth Borough Council respectively.
